One sip of olive oil, lemon, and ginger to wake you up the Mediterranean way

A quick, golden ritual for slow Mediterranean mornings, this shot is warming and full of bright lemon and ginger flavor. We make it with Musai extra virgin olive oil, pressed from Kalinjot olives in the hills of Vlorë, which gives it a green, peppery finish.

Ingredients

Honey Base

1 tsp raw honey
1 tbsp warm water

Shot

1 tbsp Musai extra virgin olive oil
Juice of ½ lemon
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
¼ tsp ground turmeric
A pinch of black pepper

Instructions

Make the Honey Base

Stir the honey into the warm water until completely dissolved.

Make the Shot

Add the lemon juice, grated ginger, turmeric, and black pepper to the honey base, and stir well.
Pour in the olive oil.
Whisk quickly with a fork, or shake in a small jar for 10 seconds, until everything is combined.

Serve

Pour into a shot glass and drink it in one go.
For best results, enjoy it in the morning before breakfast.

Make a Batch for the Week (optional)

Multiply all ingredients except the olive oil by 5 and mix them in a glass jar.
Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Each morning, pour one portion into a glass, add 1 tbsp Musai olive oil, and shake or whisk before drinking.
