Kallmet Reserve 2018 is the Albanian premium wine vinified only with the indigenous red grape called Kallmet, grown in the picturesque region of Koplik, within Malesia e Madhe. The grapes grown here are full of rich mountainous terroir, which gives this wine its full-bodied and refined style. This reserve aged 12 months in oak barrels boasts a bright ruby color, intense, complex aromatic nose, and a smooth, long-lasting taste.
Aroma and Flavor Profile
The wine is intensely aromatic, with wild berries, accompanied by hints of oak from the barrel aging. The Kallmet grape imparts a rich, full-bodied flavor, with good softness and persistence on the palate. With a balanced moderate acidity and an alcohol content of 14%, this wine maintains a harmony of fruit and earthy tones, therefore being really elegant for any occasion.
Production Method
The Kallmet grapes are hand-picked with great care and vinified according to traditional methods, then aged in French oak barrels for 12 months; this adds depth and complexity to the wine. Medaur Winery produces only 7,000–8,000 bottles of this exclusive reserve annually, which reflects in each bottle the craftsmanship and dedication to quality.
Pairing Suggestions and Serving Temperature
Kallmet Reserve 2018 pairs well with red meat, aged cheeses, and cured meats, making it an excellent choice to go along with hearty meals. Serve at 16-18°C; this will bring out all the flavors of this rich, smooth wine.
